Parent/Grandparent Super Visa
As the Parent/Grandparent sponsorship program is currently very limited, the Canadian government introduced the “Super Visa” to be able to reunite the family members for long durations in Canada. This Super Visa allows for people who are Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents (PR) to act as guarantors for their parents or grandparents to visit and stay in Canada for periods of up to two years at a time. In comparison, a regular visitor visa is usually valid for a maximum period of six months. The Super Visa is a multi-entry visa that provides multiple entries for a period of up to 10 years. The key difference is that the Super Visa allows an individual to stay for up to two years at a time in Canada, while a 10-year multiple entry visa would only have a status period for each entry of six months only.
